I rarely read a book straight thru anymore. Time and commitments force me to “speed read”.
However, the book I am about to mention was authored by a childhood hero of mine.
If you are a guy, and around 40ish+, you might concur.
However, maturity and wisdom is what prompts me to recommend what I believe to be one of the best business books I have ever read. Why?
Street Cred
I love Robbins, I love Tracy, I love Zig Ziglar and their ilk. But what business did they start other than off the back of their guru status? The guy I am about to mention played in “the best Rock and Roll band of all Time! You asked for the best you got the best….”
Yes! Gene Simmons was an innovator. He was the first to understand the power of merchandising in Rock and Roll. And he brought it to a level that is almost nausiating.
He actually Trade Marked the name of his band: KISS
The book tells the story of the band. But more importantly thru this quasi autobiography you get to know the Simmons brain. He is very non traditional. And if you are easily offended then definitely do not read this book.
Tony Robbins talks about how important modeling is. He says that success is as easy as modeling successful people and simply plugging into their system. And part of everyones system is their set of beliefs.
I can tell you that Gene Simmons is wired much diferently than most people. But it is in his system of thought that the reader can see why success flows to this guy.
Do you know anyone who has bought a Beverly Hills property all cash out of his own pocket? Read the book and you will.
The book gives you a sense of a guy who does not think like the vast majority of business writers. Instead of talking business. He creates it. And that is why I love this “business ” book.
